6 month contract position (likely for extension, possible for going direct)

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading University’s research division to place an Accounting and Research Administrator.  In this role candidates will develop, collect, interpret, analyze, and audit documentation to support project requirements and control account manager needs in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and university policies, procedures, and regulations.

Position Responsibilities:
•    Facilitate the administration, monitoring, and financial management of moderately complex research projects in accordance with applicable federal, state, local, and university policies, procedures, and regulations
•    Review and audit project financial reports against the University's financial reporting systems
•    Develop and implement budgets and forecasts as well as monitor project ongoing financials and budgets for accuracy
•    Compile, verify and analyze data in order to assist in the preparation of reports for faculty, senior management, affiliated departments and outside agencies.
•    Identify financial issues and notify management in a timely manner while working cross-functionally to mitigate
•    Oversee special research projects as assigned

Position Duties:
•    Execute work to meet project milestones and performance objectives (cost, scope and schedule)
•    Plan to perform work in a safe manner
•    Perform work with quality
•    Produce quality work under limited line manager supervision and report on findings
•    Accomplish the requirements of multiple team members simultaneously and with exemplary quality while under pressure
•    Perform multiple assignments and deliver quality analysis under time constrained deadlines
•    Assist in developing and implementing division/department policies and procedures
•    Interpret and assist in implementing new systems and project information
•    Develop project and/or systems work scope, cost, and schedule
•    Execute work to meet project objectives
•    Identify new initiatives

Required Qualifications:
•    Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration, including the area of post award processes; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•    Completion of Essentials of Research Administration certificate series or equivalent within one year
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.  Excel experience is IMPORTANT and the ideal candidate would be an expert level user in Excel and be able to create pivot tables and macros.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
•    Microsoft Excel Power Query or BI experience is a big plus
•    Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Accounting is highly desired.
•    Knowledge of University policies and practices
•    Good customer relations/service skills; Established problem-solving skills
•    Understanding of federal regulations and the Federal Cost Policy with the ability to give guidance to laboratory employees on what is allowable
•    Strong Accounting background
•    Expert-level user of Microsoft Excel
•    Experience with ERP systems (i.e. EBS and IFS) 
•    Technical aptitude to pick up new software with limited support and training
•    Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality support to the team in a timely manner

Work Direction and Interfaces:
•    Reports to the department Accounting Assistant Manager in order to receive direction, request assistance and review work
•    Interfaces with team members in order to provide expertise and advice on administrative issues, exchange information, coordinate administrative and operational needs, present financial and regulatory information and solve problems
•    Interacts with principal investigators and control account managers to interpret administrative and operational needs and facilitate support

Work Environment:
•    This will be a standard 1st shift position (exact hours to be determined)
