Compensation:
$21.00/hr while on contract (overtime paid over 40 hours).  There is a good chance of direct hire after 12 months.  Salary expectations if going direct would be $50K/yr to $60K/yr.

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American designer, manufacturer and marketer of access equipment to place a Buyer.  In this role you will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services from a class or family of suppliers in direct support of manufacturing operations.  Primary contact with suppliers in the areas of supplier performance, engineering change implementation, flow of material, inventory control, and disposition of non-conforming goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Spearhead all business conducted with suppliers and coordinate internal actions between supplier and the product.
•    Communicate parts availability issues to appropriate buyer and zone team members.
•    Disposition of non conforming material and communicate non conforming parts issues that affect build to buyer and zone team members.
•    Communicate inventory level set ups to PFEP Specialist.
•    Communicate packaging issues to materials.
•    Communicate pre paint parts issues to materials, buyer and zone team members.
•    Create and present purchasing metrics to management for the zone.
•    Participate in lean events for the zone.
•    Represents purchasing at production related meetings and address supplier delivery issues.
•    Represents purchasing on root cause analysis team to fix material shortages and report on critical items.
•    Ensure smooth cut in of change notices.
•    Support new model introduction into production area.
•    Drive change in supplier shipping and packaging habits.
•    Assist in Kanban implementation to zone for purchased parts.
•    Create spot buy and blanket orders with suppliers.
•    Manage and maintenance MRP message activities.
•    Part number setup files under purchasing control.
•    Create debits memos, and credit memos as needed.
•    Website communication and training with suppliers.
•    Inventory control activities for material stored at suppliers.
•    Shortage updates and critical concern maintenance.
•    Insure the proper flow of material into the system.
•    Support all procedures for government regulations and public laws.
•    Provide feedback to manufacturing and purchasing management concerning potential problems that could affect manufacturing operations.

Experience Required / Desired:
•    The manager is looking for a person who has excellent Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot tables, V-Lookups) as well as experience with the other programs in the Microsoft Suite. The person will be working in spreadsheets, data analysis, etc.
•    Person must be comfortable with a fast-paced environment, have time management skills, understand the sense of urgency, and is a quick learner.
•    Will have regular contact with internal customers as well as vendors/suppliers, so customer service skills are also important.
•    Experience with warehouse, supply chain a plus, but not necessarily required.

Education Required:
•    Bachelor's degree in fields of Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field.
•    Manager will consider candidates without a 4-year degree if they have relevant warehouse/purchasing experience.

Work Environment:
•    Generally 8am to 4:45pm, M-F.  Minimal overtime.
•    Occasional local travel (within 30-45 mins of office, day trips only)
