Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with an established and steadily growing automation and specialty machine company looking to fill a full-time (direct hire) position with a detail oriented, dependable, and adaptable person. Our client is offering a competitive wage including an extensive benefits package and steady flow of work in a creative and innovative environment. The position of Controls Engineer is responsible for creating controls solutions and troubleshooting existing systems while coordinating with mechanical engineers, electricians, and assemblers. Much of the work in this role will involve working with conveyor systems and robotics. Our client’s systems are mostly used at Tier 1 automotive suppliers for glass installation. It is imperative that the person in this role is a team player that has individual motivation. 

Experience / Education Required:

  • 2-5 years' relevant Controls Engineering experience required
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma (or GED) is required at a minimum. Higher education is always welcomed.
  • Thorough understanding of Allen Bradley PLC's (safety and standard controllers)
  • Robotics experience is required (our client uses mostly ABB and Fanuc robotics and occasionally Motoman).
  • Experience with Vision systems (Cognex and Keyence)
  • Experience with servos
  • Ability to design controls systems from 3D mechanical models. Experience with BricsCAD (for Electrical and Pneumatic Schematics) is preferred.
  • Experience with machine safety design (Electrical and Pneumatic)
  • Troubleshooting electrical and pneumatic systems.

Work Environment:

  • This position will primarily occur during 1st shift operations (but could occasionally start sooner / end later).
  • This position does have median travel expectations about 10-12 times a year (generally these trips will last 3 or 4 days).
  • Travel will be mainly to the Eastern USA.
  • Generally, this position will work 40 to 50 hours per week (hours over 40 hours are paid at straight time, overtime is not paid in this direct role).
