Job Title:
Design Engineer (Heavy Vehicle Tubing & Steel Structures)

Type of Position:
6-month contract position (likely for extension / possible for going direct)

Candidate Requirements:
This position is ONLY open to candidates who are US Citizens due to the type of work.  Client will NOT accept candidates who are Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) or on CPT, OPT, H1B, and TN visas.  This position is NOT open to corp2corp, corp2hire, or w2 referral.

Compensation:
$39.50/hr (overtime paid over 40 hours)

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor and engineering company to place a Design Engineer (Heavy Vehicle Tubing & Steel Structures).  

Experience:
•    We are looking for candidates who have experience using CATIA, CREO, and Windchill.  
•    Experience on the 3D CAD side with machining and sheet metal experience is highly desired
•    Tubing or tube steel structures experience is very desirable as well.
•    Heavy truck or equipment background is desirable.
•    Looking for someone with extensive relevant experience.  Will consider candidates with less experience if they had above average GPA’s in college.  For candidates just out of school, we are looking for experience on SAE teams such as (but not limited to) Mini Baja, clean snowmobile, etc.  
•    Looking for hands on experience / mechanical aptitude.  Hobbies / interests such as working on cars, building houses or wood working will often lead to success in this role.
•    Work experience in design and testing is preferred.
•    Candidates must have at least 6 months of relevant experience (can be internship experience)

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Researches, studies, and proposes use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products
•    Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues
•    Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures
•    Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability
•    Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material
•    Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements
•    Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with our client’s corporate culture. Conduct duties consistent with the Company’s mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures
•    Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support
•    Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication
•    Provide direction to designers and drafters regarding engineering analysis
•    Establishes priorities for work delegated to others
•    Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations

Education Required:
Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Work Environment:
•    1st / day shift (7:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday) are the core hours for this position.  Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required occasionally (but more the exception than the rule)
