SUMMARY: The Electrical Design Engineer position is responsible for establishing technical specifications, developing product designs that meet those specifications, modeling and analyzing systems, and solving technical problems.



  • Design, develop, or re-design new or existing productions of a moderate to complex nature through release, build, or validation process working from direct instruction and/ or requirements
  • Engineering generalist able to plan and conduct various engineering work assignments with instruction
  • Applies robust engineering practices to all assignments
  • Works on unusual or complex problems with guidance
  • Define, interpret, and establish specifications using customer requirements, engineering calculations, or layouts
  • Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
  • Use original thinking and ingenuity to solve problems
  • Complete tasks related to new product development or field issue resolution
  • Produce engineering documentation such as 3-D models and assemblies, Production Assembly Drawings (PADs), part requirement drawings, etc.
  • Develop engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and on-time
  • Effectively utilize computer-assisted engineering or design software to perform engineering tasks
  • Assign or approve work for CAD draftspersons, designers, technicians, or engineers



Knockout Requirements:

2+ years Automotive Electrical Engineering experience.

 1+ years of Automotive/12volt Wiring Harness design experience.

Note:  Experience = TRUE job experience. Internships, hobbies, and side projects do not qualify for this term, and they do not contribute to experience requirements.


General Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Required
  • 2-3 years of work experience in electrical engineering or a related technical field required (Internships do not meet or contribute to this prerequisite)
  • Experience designing electrical and mechanical portions of HVAC systems (automotive HVAC system sub components and vehicle integration preferred)
  • Required engineering skills include both analytical and “hands-on” abilities
  • Consistent attention to detail

  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task and prioritize workload
  • Creative and innovative team player
  • Intermediate-level user in Microsoft Office Suite
  • CAD experience with emphasis on 2D and 3D; SolidWorks preferred

  • Willing to improve self / area / company (including pursing additional training, if needed)
  • Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to engineering work
  • Detail knowledge of Company and products
  • Familiarity with robust engineering principles
  • Detail knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes and regulations


Electrical Requirements:

  • Experience in automotive branch circuitry design.
  • Understanding of CAN protocol for J1939
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • Experience in automotive harness design
  • Create and execute test plans
  • Electrical troubleshooting knowledge required

Pay Range: $65 - 70k + Generous Relocation Available
