The Facility Technician directly reports to the Manager, Engineering and Facility Services at Test Center California, supporting day-to-day operations with a minimal level of supervision. The role is primarily responsible for performing minor repair work and conducting preventative maintenance within the campus. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for inspecting systems (i.e. HVAC, plumbing, etc.) and performing other duties as assigned with the overall goal of reducing maintenance costs. The Facility Technician also actively promotes the company’s vision of integrity by displaying a positive attitude and behavior within the working environment.
o Conduct minor repairs of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as needed.
o Consult respective vendors regarding repairs within emissions testing laboratory and campus workshops.
o Schedule vendors to complete necessary repairs.
o Maintain compliance to city, county, and state ordinances.
o Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems.
o Perform manual repairs when necessary (i.e. fix locks, circuit breakers, lights, etc.).
o Conduct general upkeep procedures (i.e. painting and carpentry).
o Respond to emergency repairs.
o Conduct other repair duties as assigned.
· Preventative Maintenance
o Perform facility inspections and create reports on the condition of the equipment to respective leadership.
o Conduct preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems.
o Ensure that installed systems are up to date and compliant with relevant regulations.
o Support personnel and vendors in conducting preventative maintenance on equipment within the emissions testing laboratory and campus workshops.
· Other Duties
o Comply with all campus safety procedures and requirements when conducting repairs.
o Maintain overview of campus preventative maintenance and safety inspection schedule.
o Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment.
o Assist in budget preparation as necessary.
o Assist with moving/unloading of furniture and equipment.
o Actively promotes awareness of the company’s integrity and compliance efforts by displaying a positive attitude and behavior within the working environment.
· 1 - 3 years of maintenance experience
· High School Diploma
· Proficiency in MS-Word, MS-Outlook, Excel
· Strong mechanical aptitude
· Ability to troubleshoot
· Working knowledge of tools, appliances and devices
· Experience with mechanical and electrical equipment
· Forklift trained/certified
· Associates or Trade Degree
· California Contractor’s License
· Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMPR)
· EPA 608 Certification
· Work schedule based on business requirements (minimum 40 hours/week) including occasional overtime. Core work hours are 7AM – 4PM.
· Commonly standing, walking, sitting, climbing ladders, and crawling.
· Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
