SUMMARY: The Logistics/Material Specialist works to form a common boundary between the business unit and Supply Chain and serves as a representative for job site, project work, and daily storeroom functions. Also manages and coordinates the procuring, maintaining, and transporting of material, from project start to finish while ensuring that the Supply Chain (Procurement and Logistics) meets the needs of the Capital Construction business unit.
Daily activities include managing and ensuring material availability for contractors work for all capital
construction projects, coordination and interaction with Engineering and Project management teams and contractors, and reconciling materials for projects.
DESCRIPTION: Typically resolves a range of problems from straightforward to complex that may or may not have routine solutions; some independent discretion; Operates under moderate supervision.
35% Conduct Field/Job Site Evaluation, Determine Material Needs. Meet and/or communicate with business unit personnel to determine material and service needs for present and future jobs. Conduct field/job site evaluations, compare prints to material list, check material requirements, and totally support jobs from start to finish. Reconcile material availability, design changes, and other construction issues to ensure final material and resource requirements are accurate. Monitor and maintain job site to ensure material needs are met; removal of supplies is complete (managing scrap, used, and surplus materials).
35% Coordinate Supply Chain & Business Unit Resources (People, Material, Equipment, & Buildings). Identify material/service requirements and coordinate delivery of same Coordinate for and/or delivery of materials for job sites. Identify requirements for spotting, pre-kitting, and pre-assemblies.
15% Promote teamwork, prioritize work, and is the primary contact for the material needs for the entire job, between Company (Project Management, Construction, Logistics, Contract Services) and contractors, etc.
15% Coordinate salvage of material.
Required Minimal Experience/Education:
3+ years Construction project experience (preferred)
5+ years Logistics or materials management experience
Associates Degree required
Travel: 50% office, 50% field work.
No overnight travel
