Negotiable (generally $28.00/hr to $32.00/hr depending on experience)

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major defense contractor and engineering company to place a Mechanical Drafter / Designer (Creo). You will have the opportunity to work on drafting / design related to high-tech military ground vehicles. This role will involve work on parts and components, fabrication, sheet metal, graphic design, and the creation of models / drawings. In practice, this role is more drafting vs conceptual design. You will prepare CAD layouts and bills of material (BOM) of component subgroups. You will also resolve engineering-related problems in the manufacturing process and prepare detail drawings as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Prepare design layouts, diagrams, bills of material, and drawings/schematics of components and assemblies with supporting calculations, i.e. weight, tolerancing, etc. in support of the overall vehicle design.
•    Create and revise drawings. Perform other engineering-related tasks as required i.e., analysis, bills of material creation, manufacturing support, layout work, and supplier contact.
•    Check work to ensure accuracy of spelling, drawing format and organization, dimension and tolerance convention, and conformance with Engineering Standards.
•    Design vehicle components to meet customer requirements.
•    Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
•    Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support.
•    Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the company’s policies.
•    Conduct duties consistent with the company’s mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Associate degree in Mechanical Design (or similar field). We are NOT seeking candidates with Bachelor’s Degrees (or higher).
•    6 months or more of related / relevant experience
•    Experience using Creo or Pro/Engineer (ProE)

Preferred Qualifications:
•    CATIA design experience is very helpful (will be used for some layouts
•    Sheet metal and part design workbenches experience preferred
•    Experience with ENOVIA SmarTeam and / or PTC Windchill is preferred

Work Environment:
•    1st / day shift
