Job Title:
Molecular Biologist

Type of Position:
12-month contract position initially (likely to be extended, possible to go direct hire)

Job Location:
San Diego, CA (near UC San Diego)

Compensation:
$26.57/hr (overtime paid over 40 hours)

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major chemical, research, and agriculture organization to place a Molecular Biologist. In this role you will work at to support molecular biology project work related to gene cloning, gene modification, protein expression optimization, strain optimization and associated microbiological support for novel enzyme products. This role will involve testing.

Requirements:
•    Must have education in Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline combined with your hands-on experience in molecular biology and strain engineering techniques for bacteria and/or yeast, you will assist in the execution of molecular and microbiology experiments, like cloning, transformations, strain construction, and lab-scale expression and cultivation.
•    Bachelors or Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 2-5 years of experience.
•    Experience with aseptic technique and manipulation of microorganisms along with PCR, protein gel electrophoresis and other standard molecular biology techniques is helpful
•    Experience with small scale (96-well) protein expression, enzymatic assays and DNA/RNA manipulation including extraction/quantitation
•    Experience with liquid handling
•    Must have hands-on experience in lab-scale biotechnology, including use of common lab equipment for molecular biology and biochemistry, automated liquid handlers, and robotics systems.
•    Demonstrated ability to maintain workplace health and safety in a regulated environment
•    Progressive experience as a scientific researcher, with proven ability to adapt to new techniques technologies.
•    Your solid organizational, analytical, and communication skills will be essential as you maintain timely documentation of laboratory work, evaluate data, and present scientific results.
•    Must be highly self-motivated and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment

Work Environment:
•    1st / day shift
