Compensation is negotiable.  Generally will be in the $30/hr to $40/hr range depending on experience.  Significant overtime opportunity is expected (10-20 hours per week).  Off shift premiums are paid for any work done off shift.

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to place a Senior Controls Engineer.  This role will be responsible for design, development, testing, and control of major engineering projects involving tools, equipment, plant and manufacturing processes in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.  You will supervise a small to medium size group of employees engaged in various engineering projects in connection with engine / transmission assembly and machining and/or rearrangement of plant facilities.  Substantial independent judgment is exercised in complex or unusual situations.  Work is difficult and of a technical nature.

•    Proposes and evaluates manufacturing processes and equipment
•    Directs the design, development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment
•    Interacts on a regular basis with design and product engineering activities to determine manufacturing feasibility of future product design
•    Provides technical direction to engineering support personnel and outside vendor design sources
•    Diagnosis and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes
•    Stays abreast of new technology, including robotics, computer graphics, and computer controls
•    Coordinates engineering projects within the plant
•    Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment
•    Helps develop budgets and forecasts within assigned area and maintains cost controls
•    Provides technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations
•    Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs
•    Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
•    Proficient in controls knowledge relative to Powertrain Engine Manufacturing: Siemens PLC, Siemens 840D CNC, Fanuc Robotics, Rockwell PLC, Fanuc CNC, Vision, Networking (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet IP), & Safety PLC
•    Ability to travel internationally and domestically for OEM equipment runoffs
•    Participates in the selection of new employees
•    Trains, develops and evaluates employees
•    Coordinates the flow of information between departments and organizations with the plant, functions and/or Corporation
•    Participates in short and long range planning of facilities design
•    Regular contact with others outside the work group
•    Maintains safety and good housekeeping standards

Skills / Experience Required:
•    Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
•    Oral and written communication skills
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
•    Thorough knowledge of machine tools, automation, and machining centers
•    High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
•    Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to manufacturing in a Powertrain facility
•    Experience with the following: PLC's (Rockwell, Siemens), Drives (Rockwell, Siemens), Fanuc Robotics 30IA Controllers, CNC (Siemens 840D, Fanuc CNC 30IB), Networking (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet IP), Vision (Cognex, Dalsa), Safety PLC (Siemens, Rockwell)
•    Ability to read and interpret Electrical drawings
•    Deep technical knowledge and ability in the electrical engineering discipline
•    Deep knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles
•    Interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
•    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
•    Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
•    Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
•    Demonstrated desire and ability to manage/coach performance of direct reports
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience (10+ years preferred)

Skills / Experience Desired:
•    10+ years in experience desired
•    Advanced Troubleshooting and Programming skills
•    Knowledge of Powertrain Equipment Specifications
•    Worked in Unionized environment

Required Education / Training:
•    Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field desired.
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering at a minimum
•    Significant experience may be considered in lieu of degree (10+ years)

Workplace Environment:
•    Must be open to all shifts
•    Must be open to some overtime
•    Some weekend work will be required (Saturdays will be frequent)
•    10 to 20 hours of OT is are to be expected per week
