Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a leading global technical consulting, software engineering and technical solutions provider to place a Software Test Engineer (QA) Lead.  CIeNET does much of the infotainment testing for General Motors. In this role they’re looking for someone to lead their QA team and interface with Project Managers.


Role Summary:

Candidates will be working as part of a global team to perform test activities pertaining to software in the areas of connectivity, infotainment, multimedia, navigation and vehicle integration services for advanced automotive systems. They will be part of our client’s large global Engineering team across the world and support our client’s automotive customers. In this position, candidates will:

  • Lead a team of engineers to perform software Quality Assurance (QA) automation and test execution by leading QA planning, creating validation test plans, assigning tasks to team members and providing technical leadership and guidance to team members
  • Work with development team and customers to identify root causes and resolve issues found during the QA process
  • Perform software QA of various automotive systems including – infotainment systems, real-time communication devices, navigation systems, safety systems, vehicle data collection and telematics, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, multimedia, I/O, personalization, and in-vehicle applications and companion mobile applications
  • Perform requirements analysis; QA strategy development, test planning, test design; test cases and test script development.
  • Perform Execution and verification of the test cases in various phases of software development lifecycle using Agile methodology – Unit, Functional, Integration, Regression, Security, Stability, Performance and Validation Testing
  • Perform setup and maintenance of automotive software and hardware tools, devices, modules, test devices, test benches, and vehicles used in the test environment
  • Create, update test procedures with a focus on global regions including market specifications to efficiently carry out laboratory and in vehicle field-testing
  • Perform analysis of test plans and test cases to design and develop automated test scripts to improve the efficiency and accuracy of test execution cycles
  • Understand the architecture of automated test frameworks and systems for automated test design, development, validation, and execution
  • Understand test automation methodologies and help develop new features, simulators and integrate automation devices into the test frameworks


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with various automotive software systems
  • Software development and testing for Android and Linux-based automotive and embedded systems
  • Automotive networks and protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet AVB), and experience using testing tools for these protocols – Neo VI, CANoe, DPS, etc.
  • Test scripting, test scripting languages, and test automation including XML, python, Java, node.js
  • Automated testing frameworks, converting manual tests to automated tests, and executing, analyzing and reporting on automated test runs on multiple software versions and releases
  • Agile software development process
  • Software tools for QA – Jira, ALM, ESIMS, Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, RQM, RTC ELVIS, Quality Center, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cellular communications (GSM, CDMA, 3G, LTE, etc.)
  • Understanding of WiFi, BT/BLE, Projection, Multi Media, Navigation/GPS technologies


Desired Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or foreign equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience


Workplace Environment:

  • 1st (day) shift
