HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a leading defense contract to find a Sr. Database Administrator in Austin, TX. In this role you will Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of experience with managing and supporting Oracle in Unix environments and a total of 12+ years in IT. The candidate should be a self-starter, have excellent communication skills and work seamlessly in a team environment.
Required Skills and Education:
o Must be a US citizen o Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years overall IT database experience including at least 10 years of experience with Oracle databases in a Unix environment o Extensive experience with Oracle 12c and 19c and Multi-Tenant Architecture and database infrastructure design o Exadata experience is a plus
o Extensive experience with Solaris and Linux Operating Systems
o A complete understanding of Oracle Data Guard, implementation, support and management
o Ideal candidate should have extensive experience in the art of performance tuning, utilizing OEM or third party tools to finely tune objects and partitions, advanced stats gathering as well as comprehensive understanding of Oracle 12c and 19c optimizer behavior and Oracle 19c new features, etc.
o Extensive experience with capacity planning, maintenance, and optimization of the database environments
o Experience automating, scripting and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy – Unix shell scripting using ksh or bash highly desirable o Comprehensive understanding of Oracle backup methodologies, their implementation via GUI as well as scripts. Experience with setup and scheduling of RMAN backups as well as successful database restores
o Ability and experience with the development of processes and procedures to standardize Database installations and configuration
o Strong understanding of hardware and infrastructure including but not limited to the OS, storage and networks
o Ability to analyze and troubleshoot Oracle server related issues o Experience with the development of architectural and functional process diagrams for Oracle database services
o Excellent communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills
o Ability to work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious
o Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
o “Can-do” attitude, proactive and resourceful.
