Contract – 6 months (extension not likely due to this position being project based)

Candidate Requirements:
This position is ONLY open to candidates who are US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders).  Client will NOT accept candidates who are on CPT, OPT, H1B, or TN visas.  This position is NOT open to corp2corp, corp2hire, or w2 referral.

$60.00/hr (overtime paid over 40 hours)

Job Description:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a global chemical company to place a State Income Tax Contractor.

•    Tax Return Analysis and Compliance – Responsible for preparation of timely and accurate filings of state and local income tax returns and quarterly estimates.
•    Other State Tax Analysis and Compliance –Prepare and review timely and accurate filings for other state tax types.
•    State Tax Inquiries and Audit Defense – Assist with gathering support and responding to inquiries from state tax jurisdictions.
•    Research and Legislative Analysis – Conduct research tax research on an as needed basis.
•    Accounting for Taxes – Assist with state income tax provision through preparation of state current and deferred tax analysis.
•    Other Special Projects – Support key regional initiatives and projects, as needed.

Level of Autonomy/Decision Making Responsibility:
•    The individual will have a moderate degree of autonomy in preparing income tax filings and monitoring the tax compliance calendar. All major issues impacting the filing will require the approval of the direct manager.

Internal and External Relationships:
•    Other members of the Tax Department
•    Colleagues in certain other functions such as Accounting, Legal, and Treasury
•    Colleagues at many of the sites in order to determine issues impacting state tax

Education & Experience Requirements:
•    Bachelor's Degree is required. A concentration in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is a plus.
•    An advanced degree(s), (M.B.A., M.S. in Taxation) or certification (C.P.A.) is preferred
•    Must have at least 5 years of experience with a major corporation or with a public accounting firm. Strong state and local income tax background is essential.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
•    Must have experience preparing state income tax returns using ONESOURCE
•    ERP experience desired (SAP)
•    Microsoft Tools - Strong skillset in Excel
•    Solid understanding of state and local income tax laws and regulations
•    Possess an understanding of tax credits and other state taxes
•    Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
•    Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
•    Use discretion in handling confidential and sensitive tax information
